Emma Jade, Alyssa Nicole and Noor Badash have lead roles in the psychosexual thriller Iconic, the feature film debut from writer-director Matthew Freiheit.

The indie, which has just wrapped production in Los Angeles ahead of a planned 2024 release, stars Jade as makeup guru Rose, who faces hate mail from a rival artist played by Roxette Arisa, in addition to dealing with a violent stalker. Also on the genre front, Gravitas Ventures has picked up the North American rights to the sci-fi thriller Project Dorothy, from director George Henry Horton and starring scream queen Danielle Harris.

Gravitas plans a VOD release in the first quarter of 2024. Project Dorothy stars Harris as titular AI Dorothy, while Tim DeZarn is James and Adam Budron is Blake — both small-time criminals who flee the police and take refuge in an abandoned scientific facility.

Their attempt to restore power activates AI Dorothy, who’s responsible for the former occupants’ demise. They realize their predicament is worse than evading the law, and they must use their streetwise instincts to thwart Dorothy’s escape into the world.

Horton helmed Project Dorothy from a script he penned along with Ryan Scaringe, and both share producer credits. Project Dorothy also stars Emily Rafala, Olivia Scott and Horton. The distribution deal was negotiated between Danielle Gasher of Gravitas Ventures and Tyler Kinney of Taylor and Dodge, who represent world rights for the filmmakers.
