‘Hazbin Hotel’ Trailer Teases Peak Inside the Last Place for Salvation in A24 Adult Animated Musical Comedy

Vivienne Medrano's hit YouTube pilot-turned-Prime Video series stars Erika Henningsen, Stephanie Beatriz, Keith David and Alex Brightman and will debut on Jan. 19.

At Hazbin Hotel, creatures of the underworld can set aside their taste for blood, violence and depravity of a sexual nature for a chance at salvation in the first trailer for the Prime Video animated series.

The preview offers a first look at the Vivienne Medrano-created anticipated adult animated musical comedy series based on Medrano’s popular animated pilot released in 2019 on YouTube.

Hazbin Hotel, also from A24 and Bento Box Entertainment, centers on Charlie (Erika Henningsen), the princess of hell, who hopes to reduce overpopulation in hell by rehabilitating demons. “This place is about second chances, to convince heaven that the people of hell can be redeemed,” Charlie says in the trailer. “I just hope what I’m trying to do here will work.”

“Are you fucking high?” cuts in a demon.

While much of hell mocks her, Charlie finds support in her devoted partner, Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz), adult film star and first test subject Angel Dust (Blake Roman) and an entity known as the Radio Demon (Amir Talai), who offers to help make the princess’ dream a reality.

The two-minute trailer teases what a hellish task that will be — not just in terms of hell’s cynical and reluctant population, but in the face of an annual extermination, led by angels and set to kick off in 24 hours.

The first look at the R-rated animated musical comedy also features Henningsen’s rendition of one of the show’s original songs, “Happy Day in Hell,” in a trailer that teases “the most devilish voices of Broadway.”

Hazbin Hotel‘s cast also includes Keith David, Alex Brightman and Kimiko Glenn, who were previously announced during the series’ New York Comic Con panel in October.

The Prime Video series is set to release the first four episodes on Jan. 19.
