Dick Clark Productions has named Datwon Thomas as the executive producer of talent.
In the newly created role, Thomas will be part of DCP’s in-house talent team, collaborating on talent strategy, relations, bookings and creative.
“We’re very excited to have Datwon bring his experience and unmatched expertise in hip-hop and R&B to DCP,” says Jay Penske, chairman, founder and CEO of Penske Media, and CEO of Dick Clark Productions. “His deep relationships and innate creative sensibilities will be instrumental in shaping the future vision of DCP’s world class portfolio of shows.”

Most recently, Thomas served as Vibe magazine’s editor-in-chief, where he pioneered new initiatives for hip-hop and R&B media and created platforms to showcase and discover emerging and established artists. He has also worked closely with the DCP team as a consulting producer for flagship programs since 2019, including the American Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards.

Thomas will also take on the role of editor-at-large at Vibe, supporting big-picture strategy for the brand. In addition, he will maintain his role as PMC’s vice president of culture and media, building diversity initiatives and programs for the company.
DCP is a unit of Penske Media Eldridge. PME is a subsidiary and joint venture between Penske Media, parent company of The Hollywood Reporter, and Eldridge.
